Pest Control - Fleas

 What are Fleas?

Fleas are small parasites that need to live on a host to survive. Although they are often found on pets you might not realise that fleas are a common problem across the UK even in homes where there are no pets as they can live on other animals such as rodents or rabbits. Fleas are usually found in soft furnishings such as carpets and in dark areas such as underneath beds.

Signs of Fleas

If there are fleas in your home or business then there are often a few tell-tale signs that they are there and even one of these could indicate that you have an infestation.

Flea droppings - these are small and black and often have the appearance of fine grit. Flea droppings can be found on your pet’s coat or on any surface in your home.

Fleas spotted on your pets or around your house. As fleas do not have wings they cannot fly, instead, they jump, and this is an easy way to tell if it is in fact a flea that you have found.

Flea bites - these are often raised red bumps on the skin and are extremely itchy.

Pets scratching more than usual.

How to Remove Fleas

As soon as you find any signs of fleas - whether it is one sign or all of them - you need to act fast to prevent it from becoming a bigger infestation and a bigger problem. There are a few things that you can do to try and remove them once you’ve found fleas in your home - use a flea comb and appropriate flea treatment on any pets and vacuum the house or business thoroughly, especially under any areas such as beds or sofas where fleas could be living.

However, the best and most effective way to remove fleas is to call a pest control service as that way you know that they have been dealt with swiftly and thoroughly by a professional.

Dispatch Pest Control offers flea removal services and by calling us you will have peace of mind in knowing that the infestation has been completely removed
